Mathias Boegner
小提琴演奏家略傳

Mathias Boegner grew up with violin and piano as a young student at the Munich Conservatory.
In 1980 he was awarded on nationwide level of the Youth Competition for string quartet in Germany. He has been coached by members of the “Lassalle”, “Tokyo” and “Amadeus” String Quartets.

After finishing musical High School he studied at the Hochschule in Munich and Vienna, and at the University of Cincinnati USA. His principle teachers were the professors Gerhart Hetzel (concertmaster of Vienna Philharmonic),
Wolfgang Schneiderhan, and Dorothy DeLay. Major further studies and master classes followed, primarily with Aida Stucki, teacher of Anne-Sophie Mutter.

He earned his degrees with honors (Artistic State Degree and Master Class in Munich; Master of Music in the US). He was also awarded by the Flersheim Foundation Lucerne, the Starling Foundation Cincinnati, and winner of the Concerto Competition, University of Cincinnati.

In 1989 he became concertmaster with Maestro Franz Welser Moest in Winterthur, Switzerland; later conducting leader of “La Folia” chamber orchestra, and member of the octet “Chroma” and the “Trio di Casola” Zuerich.

He always followed his pedagogic interests as well: having been assistant to the professors Friedrich v. Hausegger and Kurt Sassmannshaus,
he auditioned and presented himself to the Zuerich Hochschule. He was elected to join as a professor at a young age in 1991, and to the teachers’ board and their committee of the foundation.

Since then he increasingly traveled as a soloist and chamber musician: 2002 with recitals in Tokyo, Paris and New York (Carnegie); with Havanna National Symphony, Southwest German Philharmony, in Singapore, South Africa, India, Jordan, Bermuda, Rio de Janeiro; CD and live DVD.
2003 he was invited to be concertmaster of the Shanghai Broadcast Symphony Orchestra; 2004 as a guest concertmaster of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande Geneva.

Currently he is associate professor at the National University of the Arts Tainan, Taiwan R.o.C.

In 2005 he received the Jordan Academy of Music Award and an honorary doctorate.

However, as he sais: the greatest honor he ever received, is the invitation by the HETZELIANER society in Japan, to be guest concertmaster and to perform Beethoven's concerto with Schneiderhan's cadenza transcriptions - for the memory of his beloved teacher Gerhart Hetzel.
